Historians maintain that one of the world's first democratic republics with an elected assembly of representatives flourished here in the 6th century B.C. in the time of the Vajjis and the Lichchavis. And while Pataliputra, capital of the Mauryas and the Guptas, held political sway over the Gangetic plain, Vaishali was the center for trade and industry.

And I loved it!

Summer Flowering Trees of Bihar:
I love flowers and have always flowers. I cherish memories of flowering trees of Patna, especially during the summer season. Trees covered in bright red Golmohars, ground carpeted with yellow Amaltas and the delicate purple flowers, whose name I never knew. [Now I know, it's Crepe Myrtle /Queen's Flower. But I still wonder what's its common Hindi name??? ] I wanted to photograph these in this trip. But my stay was in late June - early July, when the peak season for summer blooming flowers was over....
